"Broken China: A dysfunctional nation"

Recently I came across a very insightful article on the Internet: Broken China: A dysfunctional nation.

Now that we have been here for almost two years, we have a better picture of China. We would like to see her having a brighter future. However, there are many things that bother us and puzzle us. This article does a better job of explaining this than we could ever do ourselves.

Interesting. Maybe it's just my personal bias, but the description sounds like a company that has let management-by-objective goals run amuck.

thank you for your reports from china and the article.
democracy and capitalism usually go hand-in-hand, but i guess we'll see how capitalism with chinese characteristic will work out eventually. the leaders do seem to shift the country's developing direction, such as "scientific development" and "harmonious society". probably for both economic and political administration. an american economist suggested china should add pollutions and social cost into measuring GDP equation. another asked how can americans stay ahead amist such powerful competition? by selling china Green. we hope it becomes a great nation, and provides balance and stability for the whole world.
